And, breathe.

Things I am afraid of...

1. Death, losing someone I love
2. Feeling helpless/hopeless
3. Never amounting to anything
4. Getting older
5. Being stagnant or still
6. Never finding someone who will want to love/be with me
7. Commitment
8. Myself
9. My beliefs and the absence of them

Ways to fix them...

1. Death is inevitable. All you can do is cherish every moment that you, and the people you love, are given.

2. Do something about it. Find a way to eliminate those feelings and, if you can't, minimize them.

3. Do not allow things to spiral out of control; work hard the first time around.

4. That is life. Enjoy the years as you have them and do not let one moment go to waste.

5. Do not allow yourself to slow down — keep working toward your goals. Relaxation is one thing; giving up before you have begun is another.

6. Put yourself out there; do not shy away from people just because you are afraid. Love and be loved in return.

7. If you are going to reach your goals, you will have to commit. Put your all into everything that you do. It will pay off, I promise.

8. Everyone has a dark day or two. When those thoughts come, remind yourself of all the good things that surround you — of all the beautiful people that are in your life and the amazing days and memories that are created because of them. Do not let yourself be pulled under; embrace the bad and change it.

9. Take a look at your priorities. What do you believe in? Sort it out now; do not allow yourself to wander around without a guide or destination. You will get lost.

Rain

It's funny how something as simple as weather can affect our mood and how we approach the day. I greet this rain with exhaustion.
I woke up extremely groggy this morning, still trapped in a web of dreams. My movements were slower—robotic—my bones aware of the wet and chill before my eyes saw the truth, lashing against my wizened windowpane. Gliding through my morning routine, I wanted nothing more than to crawl beneath my covers and slip back into a dream-filled sleep. If only...

Everyone else seems to be having the same sort of troubles as I; everywhere I look, people are yawning and eyes are drooping and limbs are yearning for the warmth of home, a blanket, their bed. The gloomy skies do nothing to quell the these desires — they only intensify them. I bundled up as warmly as I could today, but the comfort only makes me want to burrow further; to hibernate until the sun decides to grace us with her presence once again.

Two hours and fifteen minutes to go. Bed, I am coming for you. I look forward to slipping back into your warm embrace.

Teaser Tuesday [October 21]

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. All you have to do is grab your current read, open to a random page, and share two teaser sentences (that don't give too much away).

This week's teaser is brought to you by the lovely V.E. Victoria Schwab:

Eli rubbed his thumb over the fresh skin of his palm, but Victor was the first to speak, and when he did, it was with an eloquence and composure perfectly befitting the situation. "Holy shit."

This week's teaser is brought to you by the amazing Beth Revis' new book:

1. Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid: I put off finishing this book for SO long (I think I started it in... July?) It was okay, but I felt like the author was trying to make the book into something deeper than he was capable of or able to pull off (in this particular instance). In my opinion, each character went through a very minimal amount of growth—even Leila, the female lead—and the only character that did develop—Hudson—did it off-screen; we didn't even get to see it! He just swooped in at the end and listed the things he had learned in Leila's absence. It would have been much more interesting had we actually seen the changes for ourselves. Like I said; the book was okay—enjoyable—but it did not leave much of an impact.

2. Born of Illusion by Terri Brown: Actual Rating = 3.75 stars. Very interesting.

3. Percy Jackson & the Olympians; The Lightning Thief (graphic novel) by Rick Riordan.

4. Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard: I have been loving me some historical fiction lately, and combining that particular genre with zombies instantly grabbed my attention. I'm just sorry it took me so long to pick this up! Daniel has definitely found himself a place on my very, very long list of favorite fictional males, and I really enjoyed Eleanor's attitude, loyalty and determination. I definitely plan on finishing this series soon!

5. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Obsidian was the Little Book Club's September pick of the month. I did not seem to enjoy this as much as everyone else on the planet—Daemon was a bit too infuriating and Kat a bit too whiny—but, overall, it was enjoyable.

Began, but did not finish:
